It's been a while. Vacation's over (more on that soon) and tomorrow it's time to go back to work for real. I've had a few days in the office since I've returned from vacation, but tomorrow marks the official start of a new school year. I'm feeling equal parts dread and relief.
I'm relieved because I think I'll go stir crazy if I continue without any regular work or routine, meanwhile I'm dreading it because there are so many unknowns: most of the teachers in my office are new, my extremely helpful co-teacher is gone, my schedule is completely different (only teaching one grade and moving to block scheduling) and I'm completely lost at the moment when it comes to lesson planning.
Throw all the dread together with missing home, and I need something to change, so it's good the semester is opening. I just hope my fears aren't realized or it will be a long, long semester. I guess I'll know a lot more in about a week.
